"Their attention to detail is next-level, and you can tell they really care about getting everything just right. I’m beyond excited to wear my suit in the next few days. It fits so well I didn’t even want to take it off when I picked it up!"

"I had a Jacket, shirt and Pants that needed Tailoring and due to my poor planning I needed it rushed. Yelena was super helpful and kind. We got the fitting lined up and my clothes tailored and returned all within a few days. Incredible quality on the clothes. I will absolutely be returning for any of my future tailoring needs"

"If you need any tailoring done this is the place. They hemmed a pair of chinos for me and converted another pair to shorts. The work was done quickly, immaculately and the price was fair. In addition, I asked Joseph to do create some custom pocket flaps from the spare fabric. He did a fabulous job and the flaps loolk like they came with the pants originally. It's this added level of skill and customization that you'll be hard-pressed to find at any other tailor in KC."

"I had a very big job which required special ordering of a specific zipper, and basically taking my large winter puffer apart to replace the zipper. I was turned away by more than three reputable tailors around the city, stating the job was too big and would take months to complete. Yelena not only accepted to do the work, but finished it incredibly fast and the work is perfect. Finding a good tailor is daunting and Yelena is miles beyond good!!"

Specialty Denim Services

Precision darning & authentic original hems

What is an original hem?

An original hem shortens your jeans while preserving the factory-finished bottom edge — including the original stitching, fading, and distressing. Instead of removing the hem and replacing it, the original edge is carefully reconstructed. This maintains the authentic character of the denim, especially on premium or heavily detailed pieces. Because the process requires greater precision and technical control than a standard hem, it is a more specialized service — and when done properly, the alteration is virtually undetectable. Original hems are a signature specialty, particularly for denim with unique bottom details.

What is darning?

Denim darning is a specialized repair technique used to restore holes, tears, and worn areas by weaving new thread directly into the original denim. The fabric is reinforced from within while preserving the character, fading, and texture that make the jeans unique. (This service is focused exclusively on denim — most often designer/premium jeans or just well-loved favorites that are worth preserving rather than replacing.)

The Family Behind Thread the Needle

Meet Yelena Blond

Yelena moved to the U.S. from Ukraine in 1994, and she brought with her a unique skill that made her new U.S. friends take notice: Sewing with a personal touch.

As the former owner of Rydell’s Tailoring, Yelena has over 30 years of experience.  Not only is she a master at putting together the perfect look for her clients, but she's also an expert at making each one of her customers feel at home. Meet Joseph Blond

Born into a family of tailors, Joseph has been around sewing all his life. Growing up, he began his journey by sewing together small coin pouches and other novelties as a kid. His hobby grew into a passion for tailoring excellence as he apprenticed in his family’s tailor shop and mastered the art of sewing.

Joseph believes that every fabric sets a tone and every stitch writes a story, so he puts precision and perfection into his craft.
